Mary Sue says, “Painting plein air is her favorite because it is so spontaneous, capturing light and time of day, a particular moment on canvas.” When a buyer purchases one of her paintings, they see that story. The artist and buyer share an intimate moment that opens a dialogue.

Her paintings have been shaped by her travels with her husband who is also a painter. Mary Sue attributes the building blocks of her education with the time spent in the field painting as fundamental to her art. Her paintings are held in private collections nationally.

Her training includes Art Students League with Max Ginsburg, Ephraim Rubenstein, and Fredrick Brosen; Scottsdale Art School with Chris Groves and watercolorist Michiyo Fukushima, who notes MarySue is exceedingly comfortable working in multiple media, including oil, watercolor, and pastel.

Early in her training, she attended the Art Academy of Cincinnati and Edgecliff College. In addition to painting many commissions, MarySue’s career includes graphic design, storyboard artist, and teaching K-12, university-level, and adult art classes. Currently, she teaches painting, drawing, and calligraphy at Ivy Tech, Bloomington.
