Jodie Friend is a Hoosier native, born in Seymour, Indiana and living in Bloomington. During her career as an athletic fundraiser and writer for Indiana University, Friend found time to fit in drawing and color and design classes at IU, but it wasn’t until she left the university that she truly immersed herself in the world of art. An oil painter, Friend has studied with Ron Mack, Robert Eberle, Ken Auster, Carolyn Anderson, Quang Ho and Jeff Legg.

Jodie has been painting for seven years and finds her inspiration in everyday life, in the Hoosier landscape and in the connections she sees among us. She interprets her vision in a style she refers to as “representational impressionism”.

“There are so many wonderful artists that are willing to share their knowledge and experience and it has been my good fortune to learn from some of the best. The process of creating art is a pure joy and many times I feel that the painting just flows through me. It’s such a privilege to have that experience.”

Friend currently exhibits at the Brown County Art Gallery in Nashville, IN.
