Amanda Mathis is a fine artist working mostly in acrylics. Painting scenes familiar to all, the artist is also known for pulling ideas out of memory and imagination, then adding a touch of humor and whimsy.
Mathis does not use facial features on human or animal, thus requiring the viewer to impose their own ideas as to feelings and emotions that the subjects in the painting may be displaying.
Mathis was named an Indiana Artisan in 2009. Indiana Artisans are the state’s best artists and craftspeople. Their select work enriches the lives of Hoosiers and visitors.
