I'm grateful for the opportunities I've had to develop my artistic vision through a lifetime of study, travel, and creative exploration. Inspired early on by the vibrant scenes around me, I strive to paint an honest record of what I observe, drawing on all I've learned about light, color, drawing, and composition. My journey began at the Art Academy of Cincinnati, where I majored in painting, and was fortunate to study with Barron Krody, Charlie Harper, and Stewart Goldman. I added to my fine arts and graphic arts training at Arizona State University and continued my education at the Art Students League in New York learning from inspiring artists Ephraim Rubenstein, Jerry Weiss and Max Ginsberg. Further training at the Scottsdale Artist’s School with Chris Groves also contributed to my approach.

Throughout my career, I embraced creative opportunities beyond painting, including as a Creative Director in major New York ad agencies on accounts including GE, BMW, McDonalds, and United Airlines. Currently I am honored to serve as Professor of Practice and Director of the Creative Advertising program at Indiana University.

Exhibiting my work has brought me meaningful connections with the art community. I've had the privilege of showing my work at the Richmond Art Museum Annual Exhibition, the T.C. Steele Outdoor Art Contest, and the Annual IPAPA Member Exhibitions. My professional memberships include:

  • Indiana Plein Air Painters Association
  • Upland Painters Association (founding member)
  • Bloomington Watercolor Society
  • NOAPS
  • Hoosier Art Salon
  • Brown County Artists Association
