Karen’s paintings take inspiration from the American Tonalist Movement of the latter 1880’s, which featured moody and shadowy landscapes. Dreamy, Brown County woods, sunsets and sunrises are her favored scenes. She loves dark, mysterious scenes that evoke a peaceful, contemplative mood.
Karen is a native Hoosier, is primarily self-taught, and has been involved with art all her life. She works out of her studio in the historic Stutz building in downtown Indianapolis, has won numerous awards and her artwork has been featured in the American Tonalist Society Online Showcase.
