"All life is an occasion for art." John Singer Sargent
Karen's art journey has been long and winding. Art has always been a part of her life. She began painting and drawing as a child and is largely self-taught. She did pastel portraits of pets, children, and horses in Florida while raising her four children. In 2007 she was able to devote herself fully to her art and began primarily painting in oil. Her landscape paintings take inspiration from the American Tonalist Movement of the late 1880’s. She seeks to create iconic images of mood and mystery. Karen works out of her studio in the historic Stutz building in downtown Indianapolis and considers herself extremely blessed to be able to pursue her passion for art at this time in her life.
Karen is currently represented by the “Brown County Art Guild” and “The Brown County Art Gallery, both in Nashville, Indiana.
