Sunflowers for Ukraine Art Show

Categories: Art News, Featured

We invite you to show support for Ukraine and it is people by participating in an art show of sunflowers images in any media you choose.

Art Sanctuary, 190 N. Sycamore, Martinsville, will host Sunflowers for Ukraine in June 2022. The show is open to all. All proceeds will go to UNICEF’s Ukrainian Children’s Fund.

All work must feature sunflowers in some way as part of the image. All media are welcome, all ages and skill levels invited. Fine craft items are welcome as well.

Entry fees are donation only; we trust the artist to decide an appropriate amount. Each artist may enter up to four pieces. The four-piece limit does not affect craft work, where there might be multiple pieces to a “set.” Use your own judgement as to what is fair. All work will be displayed unless we run out of room, Art Sanctuary management reserves the right to reject an artwork that might not fit with the community standards of this show which is open to all viewers.

Work may be for sale but does not have to be. Art Sanctuary’s usual commission on sales is 30% and will give back 10% of any sale to the UNICEF donation fund. Visitors are never charged to view shows at Art Sanctuary but will be encouraged to donate in lieu of an admission fee for show. There will be some small “viewer’s choice” awards for fun but these will be funded from an outside source.

Wall pieces must be fixed with a hanging wire, no sawtooth hangers. Framing and a hanging wire are recommended for youth work (grades 12 and down) but pieces with a sturdy mat board or foam core backing will be displayed if possible.

Turn in dates: Sunday, May 22, 2-5pm, Monday May 23, 4-7pm or by appointment.

Pick up: Sunday June 26, 2-5pm & Monday, June 27, 4-7pm or by appointment.

We hope you will join us for this show as an opportunity to support war-ravaged Ukraine and see it as an opportunity to showcase your work to a very appreciative audience.
